Mezcals made by maestras mezcaleras
Try these 4 bottles of Lumbre, Tepeztate, Tobalá and Jabalí.
Taak & Art seeks to spread the richness and diversity of Mexican traditions to all corners of the world. Our first project is called Apapachar, which seeks to promote and support the sustainability of agave distillates, inspiring consumers to discover and appreciate their diversity thanks to the great variety of agaves that exist in Mexico and the different ancestral and artisanal processes to their production.
In our first edition at Taak & Art we focused on highlighting the hard work and challenges faced by mezcalera teachers, who fight to make their way in a still very conservative sector in which they have played a secondary role.
Four 50 ml bottles of different varieties of agave.
From the Augurio brand the bottles made with Lumbre and Tepeztate agaves and from the Curadores brand the bottles made with Tobalá and Jabalí agaves. The production of both brands is artisanal and ancestral, with wild agaves that have required more than 10 years to mature. They are limited editions since they were made in small batches, thus creating special mezcals from the hands of master mezcal makers.
The maestras Araceli and Berenice Rodríguez from Zaachila, Oaxaca delight us with mezcals from wild Lumbre and Tepeztate agaves made with artisanal and ancestral processes. All pineapples are crushed by hand with wooden mallets. The Rodriguez sisters are committed to sustainability using different practices to consume water and energy responsibly.
Lula Vásquez de Sola, originally from Vega Oaxaca, offers us two excellent varieties of mezcal, Tobalá and Jabalí. She is the fifth generation of a family of mezcaleros. Her parents directed the largest rural producing society in Sola de Vega, introducing the domestication of the Tobalá maguey. Lula actively promotes mezcal culture and is an enthusiastic photographer, portraying the wonderful world of mezcal.
